I've been trying to reduce the intake temp for my SC setup, after learning how fast the temp goes up during high boost condition. I already have a heat shield for my air filter and bypassed the hoses that go to the IAC and TB. However, these alone didn't seem to be enough as intake temp still goes up as high as 180 degrees under approx. 7psi of boost. Therefore, I decided to go one step further to reduce intake temp. I'm installing the Hondata intake gasket and bypassing all coolant hoses that go to the intake manifold. These mods should totally eliminate all heat sources that can heat soak the intake manifold. Here is a link to some pictures of the installation. I'll post the actual result once I have my SC reinstalled. The SC is going back to JR for an oil leak problem...

I am really interested in your findings and results. How exactly did you measure your intake temps before the project? Also, at what point did you record temps?
Nice pics, are the SS lines for an oil cooler?

JRCivic did the same thing on my SC JDM B16. We went with the Hondata intake manifold gasket as well as by passing the throttle body's coolant lines. And I'm almost positive that he bypassed the coolant coming into the intake manifold?!?!?! Jim?

dam the car gets that at idle,i cant imagine what my temps are,i run 10psi.no heat or anything yet,need to installed hondata gasket,how much was the scantool.is there enough threads left to install the washers

I used a scantool to record the readings during cruising and boost. I original measured the temp with the IAT sensor mounted on the intake tube (original location) with the air filter heat shield setup. I was so happy thinking the intake temp was low, until I decided to install an OBD I IAT sensor on the back of the SC to read the actual intake temp. That's what prompted me to take on this project.
BTW, yes, the SS lines are for the oil cooler. Just another way to control heat... The oil cooler has a thermostat by Mocal, so the oil will never be too cool during winter time. Here is a link to the scantool.

My scantool costs about $250, but there is a groupbuy going on for something similar at $75. Just check the posts from approx. two days ago. The gasket and washer add up to be 5mm. There should be enough threads to start(3mm), as the gasket and washers will compress a little while tightening. Another option is not use the washers.
